This paper focuses on the levels of corruption in Nigeria and the impact of the endemic and deep-seated corrupt practices on the quest for development in Nigeria. The paper x-rayed the genesis and sustenance of corruption and how it has permeated all facet of human endeavor in Nigeria. It adopted the content analysis of secondary data which were reviewed comprehensively and the major themes of each publication and data were isolated and discussed. The results of the analysis established that corruption has eaten deep into the fabrics of the Nigerian society and therefore a major impediment to the quest for development of Nigeria.
