This study was designed to establish the relationship in terms of value that exists among Nigerian politicians who are laying claim to the political ideology of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Using the phenomenology method, the researchers studied two notable Nigerian politicians in the southwest part of Nigeria (Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Olusegun Rahman Mimiko) and found out that the two politicians campaigned with the cardinal programs of Awolowo when seeking elective position as governors of their states (Lagos and Ondo respectively). The two politicians studied served as poster boys for Awolowo’s political ideology popularly referred to as Awoism as they affected the masses in their welfare programs which centred on free education, free healthcare, agricultural development, job creation, urban renewal and development of the judicial system among others. Based on this research findings, the study recommended that Nigerian politicians who are laying claim to the political ideology of the late sage as Awolowo is called should eschew corruption and endeavor to institute a masses driven policy that would lift the people out of poverty by creating an enabling environment for all to work and prosper.
